Farah Payan made WHCT what it is today.
Established in 1952, Woodland Hills Camera (now known as Woodland Hills Camera & Telescope) is one of the longest continuously-operated optical shops in the greater Los Angeles region.
The Chase and Knots families started the business and it changed hands many times eventually being acquired by Farah Payan in 1986 during the era of Comet Halley. Woodland Hills Camera started selling telescopes in 1980. Farah changed the name of the company in 1992 to Woodland Hills Camera & Telescopes (WHCT).
