I bought Explore Scientific’s straight-through non-illuminated finder scope because I had acquired an ES apochromatic telescope and I wanted a matching scope—but I didn’t have the money for a more expensive model.

I like this scope. It doesn’t have any bells and whistles, but what does a scope really need to do other than help me aim the telescope? It doesn’t it’s job well, and it didn’t break my bank book.

So far I've gotten two awesome telescopes from Explore Scientific. This finder 'scope, not so much so. It mounted fine and I had no trouble aligning it. For some reason the images are blurry and out of focus... Still not a problem finding the Moon or planets, but it may be unusable for deep sky. Extremely disappointed.

I recently purchased two of these 8x50 finderscopes and installed both on my "Firstlight" 114mm Newtonian and also on my 102mm x600mm refractor. I painted the rings to match and even added the red pinstripes on the optical tubes to match both scopes. They work great and are a great addition!
I love the Explore Scientific products. They have great customer service as well. I dealt with Meade instrument for 30 years, and during the last years their customer service people were terrible, rude, and incompetent..so it is a breath of fresh air to deal with ES. Thank you!
