This 102mm refractor telescope delivers "great images with no color fringing" and is praised for its lightweight, portable design. Customers appreciate the excellent value and quality optics. However, several shoppers reported issues with the red dot finder being wobbly or non-functional, mount stability concerns, and lens fogging problems. Some durability issues noted.

I’m giving this a 2 star simply because of customer service. I can guarantee that if anything happens to your telescope they will replace it. But that’s where, for me, the good ends. I bought the FirstLight 102 on the twilight nano mount, and a month later the tripod legs broke. They did replace it, which I appreciate. But since then, I’ve used it only 5 times, and now the alt/az handle completely snapped off. It’s not a big deal because I rarely use it anyways, but that’s the point, I rarely use it. Also, every time I go outside the lens of the scope fogs up without a way to remove the fog. Humidity does play a role, but even bringing it inside doesn’t seem to make a difference. Just a bonus, but the red dot finder simply will not work. It turns on, but will not move. It’s also not necessarily needed but it is inconvenient and leaves me disappointed about the product, and a bad taste about further trying to replace it.

I bought mine in 2023. I enjoy using it still to this day. The twilight mount was my only struggle as it doesn't lock down. Make sure the scope is balanced in the mount and it won't be to big of a issue. As a entry level scope i recommend it. The price was hard to beat.

After a great experience with the 90mm refractor, I decided to get one of the 102mm refractor's with the Nano mount. Not one bit disappointed in my decision. Great images with no color fringing, effortless tracking with the Twilight Nano mount. I'm retirement age and the fact that the whole set-up is extremely light and easy to move around the yard is a plus. This scope works great with my orthoscopic eyepieces and my wide field ones equally well. Very pleased with my purchase!

I bought the scope as a birthday present for a friend that has a hectic schedule. I gave him a Bible with it, and told him to have his grandkids read the first sentence of Genesis and then proceed to show it to them (the heavens). He was extremely happy to get it.

I was disappointed with all the plastic. I do like your products, and something I enjoy is upgrading my scopes, so these 3 ES Firstlight scopes will keep me busy awhile. Both enjoying the night sky and tinkering. Both red dot finders I have received for the 114mm newt and the 102 short tube refractor aren't any good. The holes weren't made for the LED light to go thru. The first worked with the 100 MAK. I plan on putting ES 8x50's and better mirror diagonals on them anyways, so not a big deal. I am currently searching for metal replacements for the 40mm draw tube extentions but haven't gotten anywhere.
All in all. Great little scopes if on a budget or for a young budding astronomer!!

Mount was shaky and could not resolve planets. Moon viewing was good. Also the laser range finder was shaky.

Scope is nice quality build and the twilight nano mount is adequate. Very disappointed in laser finder. Finder is very wobbly after aligning with main focuser. Just touching the finder again throws of alignment. A better manual would be useful (not the single sheet quick setup). Other than the useless finder which is poorest quality I wish it had a 6x30moptical finder
