The Cherry Springs Star Party is held in Cherry Springs State Park, located between Coudersport and Galeton in Potter County, PA. It is one of the darkest spots in the eastern United States and is classed as an International Dark Sky Park by the International Dark-Sky Association. The party is held on the Astronomer's Overnight Field part of the park, as seen on the map at left it is located on the west side of State Route 44 which bisects the park.

Featured Activities

Aside from the experience of star gazing with your telescopes, binoculars, or just with the naked eye under ultra-dark skies, there are  plenty of programs going on throughout the Star Party. The area around Cherry Springs is surrounded by many other beautiful parks and natural features to visit and make day trips out of! Astronomy gear vendors also make their wares available for demonstration and purchase, and of course there is the door prize event where you can win valuable astronomy gear just by attending.

Public Outreach

Operated by the Astronomical Society of Harrisburg, the Cherry Springs Star Party has since its inception accepted people of all abilities, backgrounds, and ages who want to have an amazing astronomical experience. The shear size of each event has now left a positive and often life-changing impression upon thousands of people.
