No, when the tablet or ExploreStars app is restarted the alignment data is not lost.
When you perform a 2- or 3-star alignment using the ExploreStars app, the data is stored so that when you shut down the app or computer and reboot, the alignment data is still there for you. Additionally, as long as the PMC-Eight controller is powered, it will maintain the current position of the mount independent of any host application such as the ExploreStars app or ASCOM Client program used. When you restart the app or ASCOM client, it will communicate with the PMC-Eight controller, and update and display the current position of the mount.
